Established in 1985, the Columbus Area Chapter (CAC) of the American Payroll Association (APA) is a group of payroll professionals and other interested parties whose mission is to advance the payroll profession. We accomplish our mission through a combination of monthly meetings, training and certification opportunities (Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and networking.
Our membership fees are $60 per year and memberships begin on the date of registration. Members receive automatic renewal notices prior to their membership terms expiring. The Columbus Area Chapter currently has 145 active members.
Our meetings are held six times a year usually on the third Thursday at various locations throughout the Columbus area. The meeting fees are $20 for members and $30 for guests. Attendance averages 50 (members and guests) and the meetings provide an opportunity for education, networking and fun. Expert guest speakers provide presentations that are pertinent to enhancing your payroll knowledge and job performance. Meetings also provide RCH's (Recertification Credit Hours) for both CPP and FPC certified professionals.
Our members represent a cross section of area employers including local governments, colleges, banks, insurance companies, health care, manufacturers, not for profits, and service providers. Our membership represents over 80 different companies across 30 different industries. Our members come from small to medium to large sized companies throughout Central Ohio. Over fifty percent of our membership is certified at either the CPP or FPC level.
Our chapter and members have received numerous awards and recognitions since our inception. Members have served and been recognized at both the state and national level. Our chapter also is very proud of our charitable efforts put forth through our Community Outreach.
We encourage you to join us as a local chapter member. As an autonomous and independent chapter of the American Payroll Association, membership in the local Columbus Area Chapter is independent of National APA membership. The education, network opportunity, fun, and chance for new friends makes this an invaluable membership!
